Thank you for sharing this. It really does take courage to let it be as bad as it is and let yourself feel its unending darkness. Grief can feel so lonely in the world of spiritual bypassing and cheap happy endings.

Hope is a battle.

Hope is the choice we have to make every day, and it will never co-exist with rage.

Tolerance of anger, violent rhetoric, and outright violence against the people we don't happen to like got us here in the first place. How often have you felt the schadenfreude of "he got what's coming to him" when someone on the other side of the political or lifestyle divide was in some way hurt?

I have, and though I may not have said an explicit word on the event, it colours everything downstream, sewage in life's river.

And perhaps God has taken note. Perhaps I have crossed the line of hating my brother, rather than loving him and hating real sins (including and especially my own, before considering his).

And maybe God has decided that I shall receive what's coming to me.
