Yesterday I bowed out of going swimming with the grandkids. (My husband went instead.) I rested and wrote (and, sadly, felt guilty about saying no). Today I bowed out of visiting my elderly mother. (I'll go tomorrow.) I rested and wrote and took a walk (and again, felt some guilt about saying no). Your post is a timely reminder that I don't need permission to take are of myself. Yet, it seems I need to be reminded of that often.
Treating yourself like a BELOVED person is one of the best ways to remind the world of how you SHOULD BE treated. Thank you for these reassuring words, Kate!
I am at a turning point in my summer. And I really needed this encouragement as I reflect and prepare to move through the second half of summer. Thank you!
As a member of the sandwich generation who just told her husband about how she is spectacularly failing at life this summer, I needed to hear this today.
I just listened to this and it resonated so strongly. July (and June) have been so unexpectedly emotional. Thank you for giving me room to have soul. ♥️

This is exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank you!
Oh. My. God. Thank you for this. As the word of the Lord often does, it came at just the right time. You are the word of the Lord for me today.
